RNDSQR ("round-square") has been an expert in middle housing in Canada, delivering nearly 200 gentle-density homes and over 300 apartment units in established neighbourhoods over the past eight years, several of which are local, national and international award-winning developments. Through this work, we’ve celebrated successes, we’ve made mistakes and learned from them, and most importantly, we’ve realized that in order to make a big difference, we can’t do it alone.
It is for this reason, we’ve created RNDSQR Middle (mddl) with a renewed focus to advocate for and champion the efforts of at-scale delivery of middle housing. Our mission is to accelerate the development of middle housing within mature neighbourhoods across Canada.

We share the tools, designs, checklists and step-by-step processes that have enabled our teams to profitably deliver hundreds of middle housing projects.
We believe that middle housing, deployed in inner cities across the country, is a critical piece of solving Canada’s growing housing crisis. And we believe that mature neighbourhood redevelopment is most successful when it is driven by the people who live there.
